A year with Drupal

It's been just over a year now since I switched this website over to Drupal. It was a bit rough at first, not because it was bad but because it comes with a very lean set of modules and to make your site even moderately nice it can take more effort than other websites seem to require. At least, at first.

After a while I began to realize that Drupal was actually engineered pretty darn well. I couldn't help but notice that I never found myself having to hack into the middle of some PHP page to enable a plug in like I did with the systems that came before. Perhaps the hardest part of it all was the occasional database issue related to activating a bugged module, but that was my own fault for playing with pre-release modules.

At some point I realized I wanted to branch out a bit, and with a tiny step I made my own "Account Menu" module that is derived from the Login Menu module. It is a trivial enhancement, but I've found it useful. I thought I'd make it available to others, so it's attached. I'd make a project for it here but really I should make a project over at drupal.org, but I almost hate to bother for such a simple module.

I suppose this is just a post to say thank you to everyone who has made Drupal possible. Nice job!
